Cleaning machine and solutions dealers across the world are meeting a common and growing need with the latest Prochem CR2 ‘touch-free’ cleaning and restoration system.

Hard surface wet areas such as washroom facilities have proven challenging to clean with traditional scrubber driers leading operators to have to clean manually, with mixed results, says the company.

The increase in specification of modern safety flooring and hygiene walls has increased those challenges further.

The CR2 combines a pressure washer with a powerful vacuum system for areas where traditional methods of cleaning like mopping are ineffective.

A built-in wand and hose caddy system makes the unit easy to transport with all necessary tools required to site. Its compact frame fits through standard commercial doors, meaning cleaning is kept less intrusive.

The machine’s ability to both recover dust and blow off dust allows operators to keep ledges and ceiling sensors free of its build-up.

Its pressure washer allows the application of both chemical and fresh water rinse using a powerful wander-hose vacuum system with integrated scrub head.

The machine works by breaking down loose dirt and grime from porous surfaces and hard-to-reach areas so that they can be effectively removed using the squeegee and vacuum system.

Its powerful 500 psi pump has a built-in auto chemical feed system for cleaning and pressure washing and offers an optional Heat ‘n’ Run system to further boost cleaning performance. A three-stage vacuum system enables swift and effective water and soil recovery.

A wide range of optional carpet and upholstery cleaning accessories further broadens its application to multi-surface restoration, as and when required.

Alec Newall, sales director at Prochem Scotland has had a positive response to the CR2 off his first sale.

“Feedback tells us the customer sees real benefit in the machine’s size, manoeuvrability and flexibility, for example the fact you can attach a wand to it,” he says.

Phil Cullumbine, Sales Director at Ace Janitorial Supplies in Sheffield, was already conversant with touch-free cleaning with another manufacturer but when unable to source parts for a local leisure centre client recommended the CR2 to the management.

“It not only had a more streamlined shape which enabled easier access into changing room, washroom and shower room areas, but is also easier to use,” he says.

“We did of course visit site to provide hands-on training for the domestic team and cover off our role in terms of compliance and inductions, but it was a very easy task to complete, which often isn’t the case with some modern machinery.

“Overall our client was happy with the CR2. It works well and is a solid, reliable piece of equipment, so we will be recommending it to other clients.

“The Prochem brand is one that stands up to professional and commercial use where some others do not.”

Midlands-based Candor Services supplied five CR2 units to Nottingham University.

One of the UK’s leading universities, Nottingham has around 45,500 students and 7,000 staff. The University cleaning team sought a single system to clean, virtually touch-free, all bathrooms, changing rooms and shower areas on campus.

The operator quarantines the area to be cleaned and sets up the machine at the doorway. The machine’s vacuum motor is used to blow dust and particles from the ceiling and high ledges onto the floor.

Then, by setting the dosing system to feed Prochem’s A257 Prochem Stone & Tile Clean solution via the pump at a low psi setting, the toilets and shower cubicles are cleaned.

The floor is then scrubbed with the hard floor scrub wand, before turning off the chemical feed and rinsing the now cleaned areas with fresh water, but at a 500psi setting.

The floor can then be dried using the swivel headed scrub wand.

The CR2 represents the future of ‘touch-free’ cleaning in challenging environments where time sensitivity is also an issue. Prochem reports recent sales have included hotels, leisure centres, airport toilet blocks and large industrial factory changing rooms.
