“If the floor’s that dirty, what can the kitchen be like?” We have all asked that question on one or more occasion when entering a pub or a restaurant to be greeted by a filthy floor.
When a new Norfolk hotel manager arranged for a complete refit of the restaurant he called in Gary Fleming of Clean-Thru Cleaning in Kings Lynn to deep clean the restaurant and breakfast room floor whilst the areas were empty.
Gary has been cleaning the hotel carpets for some time but never the hard flooring (even though he’d been asking!)
Gary called the Prochem technical line and was advised to treat the Karndean-made vinyl floor with D488 Powerclean and use a slow or medium speed rotary and a green, scrubbing pad.
The team also advised that after removing the soils the floor be neutralised with a mopping of C255 Prorinse to remove any sticky residue.
Says Gary: “As the room was quite large at over 100 square metres it took some time to sweep, scrub, neutralise and then dry the floor. But we got there.”
On completion, the restaurant manager came back and was amazed with the result and finally admitted, as Gary already expected, that the floor hadn’t been professionally cleaned for over five years only mopped by the in-house cleaners which had added to the state of the flooring due to the build up of residue left by over applying cleaning products.
“So, the good news is that I’ve got the regular cleaning of all the hard flooring in the hotel to deal with and now the restaurant / breakfast area on an annual basis to prevent it returning to the state it was in prior to its first clean,” says Gary.
He’s been in the cleaning business since 1990, buying his first Prochem truckmount in 2001 along with completing all his training here at Prochem and then upgrading to a new Blazer in 2015.
That hotel is another happy customer to add to Gary’s portfolio of prestigious clients.
