When ex-pat Brit professional cleaner Glenn Chidzoy’s fleet of trucks, equipment and cleaning solutions was wiped out in a major flood at his premises in Antibes on France’s glamorous Cote d’Azur, he turned to the old country and cleaning systems professionals Prochem for help.

After all, they are ‘By Royal Appointment’…

“Yes, I confess I am attracted to the fact Prochem has a Royal Warrant of Appointment for carpet cleaning solutions,” says Glenn. “I’m originally from Windsor – and we clean super-yachts owned by royalty!”

A passion for travel and adventure took Glenn by way of California to the south of France back in 1986 where he set up Carpet Care, the coast’s first yacht cleaning service. Much has changed on the way -“lots of development, more demanding and savvy customers, and much bigger boats,” laughs Glenn.

The motto at Carpet Care is to work hard and have fun.

“I think we should enjoy life,” says Glenn. “We’re an artisan company and we’ve stayed true to our roots. The carpets we clean average around three hundred pounds a square metre, so you have to know what you’re doing.

“Other cleaning businesses have sprung up over the years and had to diversify but we only clean yachts and we know that market inside-out.”

So much so, in fact, that Glenn doubles up as an advisor to yacht interior designers on flooring procurement and design. The company’s team of four full-timers and up to nine part-timers also fit carpets to the floating palaces of Monaco and as far north to the grand marinas as Genoa in Italy and south to Barcelona in Spain.

It all sounds very glamorous – but it didn’t feel like it back in October of last year for Glenn.

“The region was subject to massive flooding,” he reflects.”We came into the warehouse when the water had receded to find our vehicles and truck mounts completely ruined and all our stock destroyed.”

Glenn took action, acquiring two new Mercedes Sprinters and getting them shipped to Prochem’s headquarters in Surrey where the team in the company’s truck mount facility fitted brand new, top-of-the-range Sapphire SS370 carpet and cleaning machines in less than three days.

Stopping only to stock up on a range of Prochem spotters and solutions, the Carpet Care team raced back to the sun and the waiting yachts of Monaco.

“We were only one month out of action,” says Glenn. “That’s a real testament to the concept of service in my view.

“And these are great machines to use – better than the ones we had from another manufacturer previously. They work faster and the dosing systems are more precise.”

For Carpet Care and its customers, Prochem solutions do the job royally!
